With our continuous moisture in the Pacific North West, rooftop moss growth is inevitable. Moss acts as a sponge and will absorb moisture, inviting possible damage to the surrounding area. Safe removal of built-up moss, algae, lichen, dirt, etc, is necessary to prolong the life of a roof and its gutter system.

Moss can grow underneath shingles, rot the roof, lead to unwanted holes, leaks, and new homes for insects and rodents. The damage done can go beyond the shingles and underlayment. If neglected, moss can even lead to damage of a roof's structural integrity.

Gutter systems are designed to collect and direct water away from a property's foundation. Concrete foundations are also porous like a sponge. Improper water drainage can result in water buildup which can travel down to and exert pressure on the foundation, leading to cracks and leaks. When water freezes it expands by approximately 9%, this can lead to additional damage for your foundation and even clogged gutters!

We Don't Use Bleach

If a chlorine bleach solution is sprayed onto the roof, it can harm you, your neighbors, pets, plants, flowerbeds, lawn, etc.

• Sodium hypochlorite (or SH for short), is the chemical name for bleach. 

• High strength chlorine bleach will accelerate the corrosion of metals.

• Bleach splashed on plants will permanently kill them.

• There is no question about it, bleach is bleach!

• “Chlorine gas can be recognized by its pungent, irritating odor, which is like the odor of bleach. The strong smell may provide adequate warning to people that they are exposed. When chlorine gas comes into contact with moist tissues such as the eyes, throat, and lungs, an acid is produced that can damage these tissues.”
